ABSTRACT

Another effective and innovative use of multimedia in narrative writing is using images, videos, and audio files to capture thematic elements. In this chapter, we’ll examine what this strategy is and how it can benefit students’ narrative writing. We’ll then check out a description of a lesson I did with a group of third graders on this concept. Finally, we’ll consider some recommendations to keep in mind when helping your students incorporate multimedia that captures thematic elements into their narratives.
