ABSTRACT
One supposed fact has from the earliest times misled philosophers and, more recently, many scientists who are concerned with knowing how we see. This 'fact' is that we may see inwards to our own processes of vision much as we see outwards to perceive the objects of the world. But the fact is that inside is hidden - opaque. We are indeed Black Boxes.
