ABSTRACT
This introductory chapter sets out the objectives of the book, the reasons why the relationship between institutions and growth needs to be explored and specifically why the case of four selected Asian economies, namely China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, is studied. Furthermore, it sets out a chapter-by-chapter outline to flesh out the structure of the whole book.
