ABSTRACT

This considers the growing interdependence of the cities in the age of globalisation, by discussing the cooperation models between economies. China, as the second largest economy in the world and the major trading partners of a number of economies, has an influential role in determining global growth. It is particularly the case for Hong Kong, which has a unique economic, socio-political relationship with China. However, there are other growth opportunities for Singapore and Malaysia, with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the once hopeful Trans-Pacific Partnership and China’s One Belt One Road initiative. This chapter will examine different models of cooperation between the economies.
