ABSTRACT

I am a non-successful inventor. This is very different from not being an inventor. The difference is that I have taken out about thirty patents, and some of these remain active and may suddenly change the world. They are mainly for data-recording devices and optical instruments – and for a hearing aid. Few have ever been made commercially; though not for lack of trying, for inventing has been a dominant time-consuming interest for over thirty years. It is great fun to put things and ideas together to create or find something significantly new. Whether the result will be sufficiently appealing or useful to attract commercial development is another question. In any case this trail can be a nightmare trial for your wits against others’ witlessness.
