ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the success factors of the England strategy, some of the challenges faced and elements that could have been done differently and sets the lessons learned in the international context of adolescent sexual and reproductive health improvements. The England strategy and the other country case studies in the chapter illustrate the wealth of expertise and understanding of how to develop and implement scaled-up national programmes to improve adolescent sexual and reproductive health. It also illustrates how the five key actions from the global consultation can be applied in widely differing countries. Nigeria provides an example of how to place adolescent sexual and reproductive health on the national agenda; India describes how to plan for scale-up from the start; Mozambique shows how to manage scale-up effectively and efficiently; Pakistan, how to build support while anticipating and addressing opposition; and Moldova illustrates how to promote and safeguard sustainability.
