Command in the north

In Dublin in December 1838, Napier was polishing his little book on the problems of Ireland. Yet on the very days when he was setting out his view that anti-landlord violence might have some moral justification, he also found himself corresponding with the London authorities over when he was to take command of the army trying to keep order in the north of England. ¹
