ABSTRACT

Making original contributions, and not simply spotting gaps or replicating previous studies in a different context, is what allows researchers to have a greater impact on their discipline. The art of making an original contribution lies not in the analytical tools used to connect the contribution to existing knowledge (though no contribution can exist without this); but instead in reformulating problems, problematising and generating new questions and creating new ideas.
