ABSTRACT

In this chapter, a case of a large teacher preparation program with more than 700 graduate students annually and 30 faculty members will be shared. Reflecting over the past 6 years of a 325T grant project, lessons learned along the way will serve to illustrate the challenges of fostering programmatic change in a college of education. Challenges include the extensive time needed for faculty discussions and actions and the process of unpacking systems in teacher preparation programs. An ongoing quest for improvement includes highs and lows and collaborative learning along the way. The chapter describes how these elements developed in our culture of continuous improvement. The methods, timelines, and processes will be shared as tools for other educators who wish to transform outcomes for students with disabilities. We hope that teacher preparation programs find them useful in their own path to continuous improvement.
