ABSTRACT
In this chapter I propose an analysis of Welsh relative clauses based on the MFMR. Section 4.1. provides some basic data. 4.2. reviews some previous analyses of this construction. In 4.3. and 4.4. I elaborate an analysis of relative clauses, arguing for a distinction between relative clauses in terms of the type of empty elements occurring in them. As part of this analysis, the ECP is reformulated as a conjunctive condition. Certain issues concerning the grammar of relative clauses are also discussed in Chapter Five.
