ABSTRACT

In Producer Tips, a wide bandwidth of diverse topics is presented. The chapter starts with very practical suggestions for successful productions, such as proper planning and creating budgets. Time management as a deciding factor in successful productions is discussed, as is the need for learning how to effectively separate production into four different types sessions to enable best outcomes. Music production is often about working with others, so a brief introduction to social psychology is given as another source of tools to add to the producer’s skill set. Chapter 6 then takes a sharp turn into discussion about the ubiquity of presets in modern music production, and extensively explores types, pros, and cons. Keeping with an information management theme, a detailed discussion of invaluable data and file management issues follows. The chapter concludes with an important list of production concepts every producer should know.
