Success criteria can be shared with the students at the start of the assessment so that they know what they are aiming for, or may choose to share the criteria after a test so can use it as a learning tool to demonstrate how the marks have been allocated. Sharing the success criteria with students is critical to the marking process and thus improving student performance. Students to participate in their learning and engage with the marking and feedback have given. It helps students to reflect on work and reminds them of what they did during the last lesson. The pre-test is establishes what the students may already know about the topic. Based upon the pre-test students then complete their own 'progress wheel'. Each segment refers to a key question from the topic and pre-test. The end-of-topic assessment should aim to include the relevant skills and content have deemed necessary to master during the topic.
