ABSTRACT

Intuition is an everyday life phenomenon that found its way more and more into the laboratories of experimental psychologists in recent years. One example that we can experience every day and that has been extensively studied in research is the so-called feeling of knowing (e.g., Koriat & Levy-Sadot, 2001) in which individuals can reliably detect the existence of certain memory contents but cannot currently retrieve these contents (Epstein, 2008). Another example is the so-called thin-slices approach, where individuals can reliably predict certain personality traits from very brief samples of nonverbal behavior of target persons (Ambady & Rosenthal, 1992, 1993).
