ABSTRACT

Readers who have gotten this far should have an idea by now that for all its might, China still does not have the confidence that it can take Taiwan by force without paying a heavy price and that it has therefore adopted a multifaceted strategy to break the will of the Taiwanese while isolating Taipei internationally. Through a vast propaganda campaign, the CCP has attempted to discredit Taiwan’s democracy and value, while fostering the idea that whatever the Taiwanese and their allies do, in the end the result will be the same: unification. Why, then, side with the losers when one can bandwagon with the winners and perhaps reap some benefits in the process?
