ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book reviews most of the extant literature on corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, and leadership. It offers some practical steps on how best to encourage proper sustainability leadership within business. The book suggests some implications in relation to the construct of responsible leadership both in theory and in application. It explores different arguments to reach a conclusion that leadership needs to be more engaged and collaborative in their various organizations to achieve sustainable business practices. The book reiterates that leadership in the current nexus of corporate engagement necessitates internal and external engagement from the corporate developers, as well as lateral engagement in developmental processes. They emphasize that collaborative corporate leadership from the private sector can find common ground with the public sector in moving society towards a more constructive and nuanced view of consumerism and consumption.
