ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 introduces an integrative approach to developing governance theory. The authors explain the process of dialectical synthesis and how this method is applied to their existing Governance Typology to develop a new approach to governance they label Integrative Governance. The chapter also includes discussion of the problem of language, explaining how ontological assumptions are embedded within language, therefore necessitating the creation of new terminology that aligns with the relational process ontology grounding Integrative Governance.
