ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses cross-cultural research on posttraumatic growth (PTG). First, we provide a summary of studies using the translated version, including 24 different languages, of the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI). Second, this chapter reviews cross-cultural research on factor structure of the PTGI. Third, we discuss the reports of cross-cultural differences in PTG, such as cross-national differences and gender differences, and explore the role of religious factors and spirituality in PTG. This chapter ends with the discussion of how the individualistic and collectivistic cultural characteristics affect PTG.
