ABSTRACT
Any patient admitted into hospital is at risk of deterioration in their clinical condition due to their altered physiological state. For most of these patients, the monitoring of fundamental vital signs alone will be insufficient to detect significant physiological changes. Most patients will require more complex monitoring.
