ABSTRACT
The control of infections is a serious problem in the UK in all settings (hospitals and community areas) and the reduction of infection risk which affects patients, carers and healthcare professionals is a priority (DoH, 2010, 2013). Consequently practices and skills which reduce or eliminate sources of infection help to protect clients and healthcare professionals from disease and illness.
