ABSTRACT

From Denver’s pioneering achievements, we move our discussion to the left end of the continuum, to three immersive environments, where we follow the rest of the cases in sequence. City Museum, Ruhr Museum, and the Minnesota Historical Society’s History Center (MNHS) are three immersive museums that fl ood their visitors with sensations, albeit in very different ways. 1 Two are history-based, and one, City, is . . . well, hardly a museum at all. In all three places, emotional engagement-felt experience-is primary.
