ABSTRACT

Good decisions are dependent on, but not guaranteed by, decision-makers having access to the right kind of information. Currently, design review boards in historic districts often have to base their decisions on extremely erratic information. Given the contentious nature of these decisions, this is particularly unfortunate. We believe the design review process will greatly benefit from more accessible and more complete information available in multiple media--text, graphics, still images, moving images, and sound--woven seamlessly together in a single computer-based information system. In this paper, we will argue the case for using such hypermedia information systems to support design review decisions, and we will describe the features of a system currently under development
