Adifferentperspectiveontherelationoftheoryandpracticeisgiven byDonaldA.SchoninTheReflectivePractitioner1•Schon'sconcernis thatthetraditionalepistemologyofprofessionalpractice,thatofapplied science,isunabletoaccountadequatelyfortheworkofaprofessional practitioner.Ontheotherhand,hedoesnotwanttoalignhimselfwith radicalcritiquesofprofessionswhichaccordthemnospecialknowledge. Toavoidthesetwosortsofmistakeshedevelopsanepistemologyof reflectivepractice,providesexamplesofhowitcanbedisplayedina varietyofprofessionsanddiscussesthegeneralimplicationsforthe professionsifreflectivepracticeweretobethenorm.Iwanttopresent hisepistemologyofreflectivepractice,makesomecriticismsofitand discusshowitmightbeusefulinclarifyingtherelationoftheoryand practiceinteachingandteachereducation.
