ABSTRACT

We’ve talked about matching the world with indicative drawings and making the world match our wishes and instructions as two flavors of subjunctive drawings, and we’ve talked about the latter’s two different audiences of client and builder. There are, however, far more people than only the bill-paying clients straining for a peek at the wishes. These people comprise an inadvertent audience who suddenly see the curtain rise on a drama they didn’t know was starting and for which they did not purchase a ticket. Let’s eavesdrop on a public meeting to see how one of those audiences responds when an architect and his client share their wishes.
