ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 of a research paper is the introduction. The introduction aims to show what is to be done in the study; that is, it explains in detail the background; defines the problem and purpose of the study, and its importance and nature; and specifies the research questions, the theoretical framework, the definition of terms, the assumptions, and the limitations and delimitations. This first chapter always ends with an appropriate summary of the aspects covered in the chapter. The chapter has no conclusions, as none can be drawn based on what is presented.
