ABSTRACT

This chapter builds upon a preceding analysis of sustainability performance of the multinational enterprises within a sample, providing details of the service sector organisations operating within Thailand. It provides some initial insights into the practices being adopted within the service sector around sustainability. The chapter establishes the general corporate sustainability assessment framework. It contextualises both the sustainability practices of service multinationals operating in Thailand, as well as provides some interesting insights into the differences in sustainability performance relative to the broader sample of the sustainability assessment framework. The chapter examines the performance of these organisations across the seven key sustainability steps. For the organisations that were in the World Class category, global guidelines and standards had an important role in determining their practices both directly and indirectly. It was evident that a range of industry standards and ISOs played a partial role in driving these organisations towards adopting specific practices to address sustainability.
