ABSTRACT
Josh Lerner is the Executive Director of the Participatory Budgeting Project, a nonprofit organization in New York City. Lerner and his organization have worked with each of the cities highlighted in the preceding chapters, and Lerner referred us to many of the interviewees who are featured in those chapters. The Participatory Budgeting Project highlighted the work of Carolina Johnson, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Washington, on its website in summer 2015. Johnson’s dissertation work focuses on an international comparison of the experiences in participatory budgeting of four cities, and she agreed to be interviewed in the summer of 2015 about her observations.
