ABSTRACT
As public administration has evolved into a values-based discipline, we have witnessed a growing litany of activities designed to enhance democracy, ensure ethical conduct, and incorporate social equality. This volume presents participatory budgeting as one such activity that aims to ensure greater democracy and transparency in the communities where it is implemented. At the same time, we seek to better understand the spaces in which citizen engagement occurs, including both physical and digital arenas.
