ABSTRACT

Blunt trauma results when a force impacts a bone over a relatively wide area, causing discontinuities and fracture lines. Although clubs and other hand-wielded implements come fi rst to mind when considering this type of injury, any hard surface such as the ground in a fall or a dashboard in an automobile accident can cause these types of injuries as well. The variety of instruments and surfaces that can produce this type of trauma is so great that specifi c aspects of the causative instrument may not be possible in many analyses. Therefore, be cognizant of the limits of the data available for your analysis when doing this lab.
