ABSTRACT

Galloway et al. (1990) provide an excellent summary of the legal and ethical responsibilities of forensic anthropologists. These range from those associated with the practice of forensic anthropology-the application of the theories, knowledge, and methods of human osteology and skeletal biology-to those related to achieving and maintaining the educational and experiential qualifi cations necessary to practice forensic anthropology. Also considered to be an ethical responsibility is the participation in the criminal justice system as an expert through consultation on casework and the communication of the evidence analyzed, methods used, and the results, conclusions, and interpretations both in a written report and, when necessary, as expert testimony in the courtroom.
