ABSTRACT

Just as different people have different learning possibilities, there are also considerable age differences in how learning is managed and progresses. Cognitive maturation, social and societal situation and some very different motivation structures have an important influence on the learning-related changes that take place in the course of a life. This chapter describes what is characteristic of learning in each of the four main life ages: childhood, youth, adulthood and mature adulthood. Finally, there is a discussion of what is characteristic of this development as a whole.
