ABSTRACT

This paper is about psychoanalysis, itself, as “the scandalous patient.” It has always been our strength and our responsibility, while exploring the lives of our patients, to be able to turn around – to face, reflect on, and analyze ourselves as best we can. With this in mind, it’s incumbent upon us to recognize that there are several aspects of the institution and practice of psychoanalysis that hint at its darker shadows.
