ABSTRACT

A significant contribution of the early Reddie literary output is his working on a new model of Christian Education that affirms the relationship between Black theology and education. The chapter examines the creative process that gave rise to Growing into Hope. Many of the Black young people focuses this study would not attend Church were it not for the continued diligence and faithfulness of these ageing believers from the Caribbean. The impetus for the work first arose a number of years ago when it first began to work alongside local church congregations in the West Midlands area of the UK. In the early 1990s an active member of a Black caucus support group within the Methodist Church in Britain. Drama provides an opportunity to create a context and find words for that setting in order to unmask experiences and feelings that, hitherto, often remain unexplored.
