ABSTRACT
At the argumentation stage of a critical discussion, the argumentation is put forward that is calculated to remove all doubts concerning the acceptability of the disputed standpoint. This argumentation is advanced by the protagonist of the standpoint. Rule 4 formulates the requirement that the argumentation in a critical discussion must genuinely pertain to the disputed standpoint: A party may defend his standpoint only by advancing argumentation relating to that standpoint.
