ABSTRACT
For a conclusive defense of a standpoint it is necessary for all the arguments used in the discourse to be logically valid. This validity requirement relates to the form of the arguments, which should be such that if the premises are true the conclusion of the argument cannot possibly be false. The reasoning procedure is the evaluative tool for establishing whether an argument is actually valid: It is aimed at checking whether its form does indeed guarantee that the conclusion follows from the premises.
