ABSTRACT
In this paper I am examining the impact of migration on Gulf development from an urban planning perspective, looking at the extent to which the pres ence of migrants within Gulf cities have shaped their built environments and the degree to which migrants adapt spaces in their daily interactions. My focus is on the city o f Dubai, which, more than any other urban center in the Gulf, is known for its multicultural and cosmopolitan character.
