ABSTRACT

In contemporary dance in France today one notes a sharp increase in the number of performances and discourses on gender identity and sexuality. Stereotypes of masculinity and femininity, in particular, are being claimed as subversive forms. In the absence of a real reflection on the social relationships between sexes and in the frequent confusion between biological sex, gender, and sexuality, this evolution appears quite ambiguous.
