An important biographical allusion in the second column refers to Harriet Shelley’s suicide in 1816 and revives the rumors that she sank to prostitution before her death. The reviewer has made a careful study of Shelley’s works — certainly of the Alastor volume — and shows a genuine respect for Shelley’s genius while decrying his morals. No. 226.
