ABSTRACT

[Hazlitt] Liber Amoris (1823); review by ?John Gibson Lockhart, Blackwood’s Edinburgh Magazine, XIII (June 1823), 640-646. After a pseudo-sympathetic beginning, up to the allusion to “Cockaigne” and the Latin phrase embodying a reference to Rimini, Lockhart launches the expected attack on Hazlitt, whose identity is obvious to him. “Craigcrook” (p. 646) was the home of Francis Jeffrey of the Edinburgh Review.
