Godwin, Cloudesley (1830); Blackwood’s Edinburgh Magazine, XXVII (May 1830), 711–716. Walter Houghton’s Wellesley Index to Victorian Periodicals (vol. I) suggests that this review may be by Mary Shelley. The style and allusions seem quite characteristic of her work and reinforce the external evidence from Blackwood’s account books.
