ABSTRACT

Hunt, Juvenilia (2nd edition, 1801); British Critic, XVIII (Nov. 1801), 541. Hunt’s volume rates a review in the British Critic, first, because Rivingtons were the publishers of both and, second, because many prominent lords and churchmen were subscribers to Hunt’s volume. But the reviewer neatly epitomizes Hunt’s poetry in saying that his works do not “prove so much genius in poetry as fondness for it.”
