Hunt, The Feast of the Poets (1814); Eclectic Review, 2nd Series, I (June 1814), 628-629. Whether or not Josiah Conder himself wrote the reviews of Hunt’s poetry, it seems clear that he provided the initiative for the Eclectic’s exceptionally friendly tone. Politically, if not religiously, Conder and Hunt were allies.
