ABSTRACT

[Byron] Beppo (1818); Edinburgh [Scots] Magazine, 2nd Series, II (April 1818), 348-351. Constable’s reviewer, having access to the best literary gossip, knows that Byron is the author before he commits himself to an opinion. But he is limited by geography in identifying Byron’s model as the Edinburgh poet William Tennant (1784-1848) rather than John Hookham Frere.
