ABSTRACT
MENTOR appeared weekly in Edinburgh in 1817 and 1818. Having the format of small belles lettres weeklies like Hunt’s (later) Indicator, it was obviously not a reviewing periodical as such but, as in this two- part contribution, included analyses of recent works by living authors.
