ABSTRACT

The KALEIDOSCOPE; or, Literary and Scientific Mirror was a Liverpool weekly that began in 1818, published two volumes, and continued in a second series from 1820 through 1831. Like other provincial papers, the Kaleidoscope did not attempt to review new publications systematically, but occasionally excerpted from them or printed reviews contributed by readers. The Romantics Reviewed contains an example of each, one on Keats and the other on Byron, both from the first volume of the second series of Kaleidoscope.
