ABSTRACT

[Byron] Heaven and Earth (in Liberal, No. 2, 1823), and Moore, Loves of the Angels (1823); review by Thomas Noon Talfourd, Lady’s Magazine, 2nd Series, IV (Jan. 1823), 19–23. One of the “zealous supporters of piety and morals” whose works are named on page 20 is Henry Hart Milman (Belshazzar, 1822). The Loves of the Plants (1789) by Erasmus Darwin had been parodied in the weekly Anti-Jacobin (1798) as The Loves of the Triangles by Canning, Ellis, and Frere.
