ABSTRACT

Byron, Marino Faliero (1821); Eclectic Review, 2nd Series, XV (June 1821), 518–527. Lucius O’Trigger (p. 521) is from R. B. Sheridan’s The Rivals, and Pierre and Jaffier are from Thomas Otway’s Venice Preserved. The stanza of Edward Fairfax (translator of Tasso at the end of the sixteenth century) was the ottava rima that Byron used in Beppo and Don Juan.
