ABSTRACT

Byron, Marino Faliero (1821); review by John Wilson, Blackwood’s Edinburgh Magazine, IX (April 1821), 93-103. The praise of Shelley’s Cenci hints at the significant part that Blackwood’s played in maintaining Shelley’s poetic reputation during his lifetime. Lockhart (as he tells us in John Bull’s Letter to Lord Byron) was less enthusiastic about Marino Faliero than Wilson seems to be here.
