ABSTRACT

Wordsworth, The Excursion (1814); review by Charles Lamb, revised by William Gifford, Quarterly Review, XII (Oct. 1814), 100–111. [Issue appeared January 14, 1815.] Lamb complained to Wordsworth that Gifford had ruined this, his only contribution to the Quarterly. The rustling leaves of a sacred oak grove conveyed messages of the Greek gods to the oracle at Dodona (p. 102).
