ABSTRACT

Coleridge, Remorse (1813); Theatrical Inquisitor, II (March 1813), 111–116. Through hasty writing or typographical error, the first sentence of this review has managed to lose its main verb. The writing throughout the review is heavy, labored, awkwardly periodic. The characters mentioned in the second paragraph include the actor and (later) theatrical manager Robert Wm. Elliston (1774–1831); Thomas John Dibdin (1771–1841), chief prompter at Drury Lane; Samuel James Arnold (1774–1852), dramatist and acting manager at the theatre; James Grant Raymond, stage manager.
