ABSTRACT

Wordsworth, White Doe of Rylstone (1815); review by ?John Wilson, Blackwood’s Edinburgh Magazine, III (July 1818), 369–381. The praise of Wordsworth, in opinion if not in tone, is consistent with Wilson’s pronouncements and in publishing it (with perhaps his own footnote praising Southey) Wilson may be making amends to Wordsworth for his earlier freedom with the Letter to a Friend of Burns. Compare this article with Jeffrey’s unthinking review of The White Doe in the Edinburgh Review.
